10 Ways To Reboot The Amazing Spider-Man Correctly

9. No More Villains That Are The Result Of Science Experiments Gone Wrong

By our count, the only villain used in all five Spider-Man movies so far whose origins didn't lie in 'science experiment gone tragically/horrifically wrong' territory was Topher Grace's Venom, in Spider-Man 3. Every other villain fell into this category, from the Green Goblin (Norman and Harry Osborn varieties) to Doctor Octopus; from the Sandman to The Lizard and Electro. Heck, even the Rhino was wearing a big, mechanical super-suit that was designed by Oscorp. Now, we know that perhaps the reason for this is that a large, overwhelming percentage of Spider-Man villains from the comics are the result of science gone wrong, so Sony is only being true to the source material. Spider-Man has always had a strong basis in science and invention, so it is only fitting that his villains follow suit. But we can't help but feel that the average audience member may have thought by now that these villain origins are all getting a bit repetitive. They're just too similar, simply substituting a tank full of electric eels with a glowing fusion reactor. Add one crusading scientist with a quirk, a tragic accident and hey presto, instant supervillain. Maybe next time Sony could take a gamble on Kraven the Hunter or Mysterio. They could even introduce Carnage and take another crack at Venom (although it seems likely that he will be getting his own spin-off movie).
