10 Ways To Reinvent The Batman Film Franchise After The Dark Knight Rises

7. Old Batman

In Frank Miller€™s fan-favourite graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns, Batman is forced out of retirement at the age of 55, due to ever-escalating crime on the streets of Gotham. The idea of seeing a much older, grouchier Bruce Wayne having to don the cape once again to protect Gotham City could actually be pretty cool in a feature film. That€™s of course depending on the approach taken with the concept. On one hand you€™d have a mega pissed off Bruce Wayne - a mix of Charles Bronson in Death Wish and Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry. A Bruce Wayne who has become a bitter lawman whose years of catching crooks have left him embittered and cynical. Or, it could be much worse, and you€™d have a sagging action hero like Sly Stallone making Lethal Weapon-esque wisecracks about being too old for this superhero shit.
