10 Ways What If... Could Change The MCU

7. What If Hank Pym Picked Kurt Instead Of Scott?

Along with Neal McDonough coming back for What If, David Dastmalchian (who plays Kurt) is one of the weirder picks for the show. It’s nothing against Dastmalchian, but with Pym and Lang (who are also returning) as the main stars, there’s also Wasp, Luis, Cassie, Maggie and Paxton who are bigger parts of the franchise than him.

You might even argue that Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost could do with fleshing out more than Kurt too.

The fact he’s been confirmed though does suggest he has a pretty sizeable role in at least one episode, and as a potential Ant-Man seems like a good bet.

Scott is recruited by Hank while working in a crew which includes Kurt, so it’s not a ridiculous idea that Hank might have centred in on the wrong man.

Paul Rudd’s Scott has such a warm personality that’s truly made Ant-Man one of the sweetest MCU heroes around. Kurt lacks that, but he has a more deadpan humour and has less of the joking around that grates on Wasp, at least initially.

Not all the What If stories need to massive, and a smaller scale one exploring the character dynamics could end up being hugely popular.
