10 Ways William Shatner Can Play Kirk Again In Star Trek 3

6. Help With The War Against The Klingons

It is being hinted at that the next Star Trek movie will involve the Klingons in some capacity. Into Darkness made references to a looming war with the Klingons but forgot all about it in the climax when Pine-Kirk was making his speech at Starfleet Academy. But if the Klingon war is the central plot of Star Trek 3, what if it isn't going well because this Starfleet is far more preoccupied with becoming a military force that they forget that to achieve victory when dealing with other species, you need more than a strong military. Star Trek has always shown us that only using force is a two dimensional way of looking at things and so far, Starfleet in the alternative timeline is very two dimensional. With Starfleet on its knees, new Kirk and Spock turn to Nimoy-Spock for help and advice on how to turn things around. We already have seen that Nimoy-Spock in this timeline is very much carefree when it comes to contaminating the alternative timeline, he's more than happy to give hints & tips when called upon in the way he did in Into Darkness. He's also not too bothered about interacting with his alternative self. So perhaps they come to the conclusion that Starfleet needs a central figure who knows how to deal with the Klingons and that is Shatner-Kirk. Bring in some inter-dimensional traveling and a portion of Khan's death defying blood, and you have Shatner-Kirk in Star Trek 3. It also allows him to be credited with saving Earth once again and he can go on living in the new timeline.
