10 Weakest Links In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

9. The Kind Of Boring Infinity Stone Story Arc

MCU fans are supposed to care about the Infinity Stone arc because it's going to form the basis of two upcoming Avengers movies and blah blah blah, but - generally speaking - the studio haven't made a very convincing case as to why people should care about it. After all, the Infinity Stone plotlines have been sort of played in something akin to a half-assed manner; audiences have been treated to bits and pieces of info, but mostly it the story has consisted of brief post-credit sequences, or nods in the background. Worst of all, the Infinity Stones that have been featured so far are inherently boring - a bunch of interchangeable artefacts with vague purposes. The problem here, of course, is that this is the storyline that the MCU has been slowly building towards (emphasis on "slowly") since day one; the third and fourth Avengers movies are going to feature a huge, sprawling plotline using these MacGuffins as their basis. But that's what they are: MacGuffins. And the "big bad" trying to collect them, Thanos, is about as interesting as a rock with a face painted on it. It's hard to get excited about a major story arc that has been rendered so flatly.
