Although he hasn€™t made one since 2006€™s Inland Empire €“ instead he seems content these days to preach about his beloved transcendental meditation €“ he still sits as one of the Kings of cinematic weirdness. With the exception of The Straight Story (aptly named because it's his most straightforward offering) he seems to revel in chucking his audience into the deep end of the bizarre but always with something more meaningful going on beneath the surface.
