10 Weird & Obscure Facts About Quentin Tarantino

3. A Band Of Black Vigilantes Were Originally Meant To Be Included in Inglourious Basterds

665 Inglourious Basterds, Tarantino's war epic-revenge fantasy, was written in the break he had between making Jackie Brown and the Kill Bill films. Although many things were changed in the final version, (for example Leo DiCaprio was who Tarantino had in mind for the role of Hans Landa), one of the major changes was the exclusion of a band of African-American soldiers that go rogue. This is what Tarantino had to say on the matter:
"My original idea for Inglourious Basterds way back when was that this a huge story that included the story that you saw in the film, but also followed a bunch of black troops, and they had been f_cked over by the American military and kind of go apes__t. ... black troops go on an Apache warpath and kill a bunch of white soldiers and white officers on a military base and are just making a warpath to Switzerland. ... When I decided to try to turn it into a movie, that was a section I had to take out to help tame my material. I have most of that written. It's ready to go; I just have to write the second half of it."
He goes on to say that Django Unchained is technically the second part of a trio of films he's making themed on revenge. The story about the black soldiers will likely be the end film, and will be called Killer Crow.
