In the end, in order to authentically step into the role of, as she put it, a "crack ho", Berry decided to forego baths and showers for a whopping eight weeks over the course of the shoot, meaning she felt (and likely smelt) every bit the part when it came time to shoot for Lee's Jungle Fever.

This was all part of Berry's plan to "not play the gorgeous girl" and "eliminate that part of (her) persona".
