10 Weirdest Horror Movies You've Never Heard Of

3. The Lure (2015)

A Polish horror-musical, The Lure is adult retelling of Hans Christian Andersen's "The Little Mermaid." In it, two mermaid sister come up onto land and start working as strippers at a local club. Whilst there, one of the mermaids falls in love with a musician, and works to make him love her back by any means necessary.

What follows is a dark tale of acceptance and identity, a disturbing visual feast masquerading as a mysterious fantasy. There's sex, blood and a crazy nightlife, and there's also violence and bizarre rehashes of mythology.

The Lure works well as an original slice of horror, as well as a refreshing tackling of its biggest influence, and though there is an awkward narrative structure running through it, it's just strange and unique enough to hold your attention through its most surreal revelations and twists.
