10 Weirdest Moments In The Early Days Of Marvel Movies

7. Soap Opera Generation X

It's often said that the X-Men, more than any other superhero comic, are essentially a soap opera set-up. Sure, there's all the political parallels between mutants and real-world oppressed minorities, but the majority of X-Stories are more concerned with whose kissing who, people dying and then mysteriously returning to life soon after, in-fighting, and fabulous outfits. So maybe it makes a sort of sense that their first dip into live action territory involved multiple soap opera actors. Generation X was a teen mutant group in the comics, lead by Emma Frost €“ eventually played by Mad Men's January Jones in X-Men: First Class. Here played by Fiona Hughes from General Hospital. And it's all on YouTube! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2woRmWMhm0 Another made-for-TV production €“ this time for Fox, who eventually made the much better X-Men films €“ the rest of the cast included a non-Asian Jubilee and another nonsensical changes, like making the fiery-faced Chamber into a Cyclops rip-off called Refrax. The UK edit was weirdly vulgar, too, putting in a bunch of profanities, racial slurs and a threat to €œmind rape€ someone absent from the US version.
