9. Tom Jones - "Mars Attacks!"
The wacky worlds of Tim Burton - from Beetlejuice to Edward Scissorhands are often stuffed with weird and wonderful characters from all walks of life, and his 1996 feature Mars Attacks! focused on creatures from another world altogether. A sci-fi spoof with a nasty streak, Mars Attacks! acts as a homage to the cheesy cinema of Ed Wood, and invites an all-star cast to get involved in the mix. There are a whole host of madcap moments involving the famous cast, ranging from Jack Nicholson repeatedly screaming Shut up!, Pierce Brosnans head rolling around in a jar, and Sarah Jessica Parker as half-human, half-dog. But perhaps the weirdest moment arrives in a scene at the casino, where Tom Jones inexplicably appears as himself performing on stage, before being driven away by attacking aliens. Its odd enough seeing a Welsh singer in a Hollywood movie, but the sight of skeletal-faced aliens - with voices that sound like a cross between a sick duck and baby dinosaur - chasing Tom Jones around a casino is quite simply bizarre. Its a cameo strange enough to freeze a frown to your face. Bonkers. Even for Burton.
