10 Weirdly Feel-Good Horror Movies With Happy Endings

1. Shaun Of The Dead

Shaun Of The Dead
Universal

The Movie: After a night of heavy drinking and getting dumped, our hungover and hapless hero Shaun and his BFF Ed wake up to find London overtaken by a zombie apocalypse.

Being British, they naturally head towards their local The Winchester for a nice cold pint until it all blows over but first must collect Shaun’s mum, ex-girlfriend Liz and her pretentious mates David and Dianne and deliver them to the relative safety of the pub.

Although Shaun and the ragtag group make it to The Winchester they suffer losses along the way – some of them sad (Shaun’s sweet mum Barbara) and some not so sad (Dylan Moran’s annoying tagalong David) until it’s just Shaun, Liz and a bitten Ed left.

After bidding the infected Ed a tearful goodbye Shaun and Liz exit the pub to find the British military finally getting things under control. About time, guys.

The Happy Ending: Shaun may have had to euthanise his own zombified mother and his mate is now technically dead but Ed is still a fairly functional gaming companion and BFF (if a little bitey) and Shaun gets the girl in the end.

More importantly, good old Blighty is dealing efficiently with its newfound zombie population by employing them in menial labour jobs or using them as entertainment in Takeshi’s Castle-style TV shows. Everyone’s a winner!
