The third of our little ideas for a Hulk-shaped cameo in Phase 5’s She-Hulk TV show on Disney+ sees Jennifer Walters contacted by an elderly Steve Rogers, director of S.H.I.E.L.D., to inform her that her giant green cousin has gone missing.

The aftermath of losing Natasha Romanoff and Tony Stark and so severely injuring his arm, coupled with the survivor’s guilt over being feted as the man who reversed the snap and saved the world, has caused Bruce Banner to suffer symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. He’s been having blackouts, sleepwalking. He feels like he’s losing his mind… but really, he’s just loaning out his body.

The Hulk was only ever Banner’s gamma-irradiated coping mechanism, a way of venting the decades of repressed anger, fear and shame in his psyche. With the onslaught of new feelings of anger and self-loathing arrives a new Hulk: a smaller, grey skinned giant with a cynical, meanspirited intellect and a big mouth who comes out at night when Bruce is asleep.

Seeking distraction, the Hulk comes to the attention of a Las Vegas mob boss. That’s where Jennifer Walters comes in, having traced her cousin to the Sunset Strip and met the head of casino security for the Hotel Viareggio: a foul-mouthed slate-skinned bruiser in an immaculate silk suit calling himself Mister Joe Fixit...
