10 Most Wildly Inconsistent Actors In Movie History

6. Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp isn't really "bad" in anything, but he does tred a fine line: for every good, enjoyable performance, Depp throws us a truly irksome and horribly insufferable one. This ratio is occurring to such an extent nowadays, of course, that's it kind of impossible to remember what Johnny Depp is like when he's not bumbling around with a quirky outfit on, doing a silly voice, and generally pushing the patience levels of his fans and the movie-going public at large. We get that you like hats and make-up, Johnny: now do some acting, will you? We'll always recall great turn in flicks like Edward Scissorhands and Donnie Brasco, and there's no denying that Depp was great in the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie... but the schtick has grown thin now, and all of his recent "performances" seem to rely more on being "crazy" and dressing up than on actually differentiating characters like The Mad Hatter, Willy Wonka, Tonto, and that pale one from Dark Shadows. For a man capable of so much more, it's kind of cringeworthy to see him wasting his talents. Oh, he was also terrible in The Tourist.
