Punisher: War Zone director Alexander is in the pretty unique position of being a woman with superhero directing experience, already giving her a head start on a project like Wonder Woman. There should be no doubt about the former karate world champion and stunt woman's action chops. As an Oscar nominated short film director she is also obviously capable behind the camera. However, while her debut feature Green Street was a moderate commercial success and received mixed reviews, Punisher bombed. Despite a small amount of cult popularity, the violent actioner, on which Alexander clashed frequently with the studio, is the lowest earning cinematic release for a Marvel product (yes, even less than Howard the Duck). Alexander has not directed a cinematic feature in the eight years since, being restricted to TV episodes and straight-to-DVD films, so she may be a long shot for a major studio blockbuster.
