While many of the directors on this list would be staking their claims for the Wonder Woman director's chair based on the one or two movies that they have managed to get made over a lengthy period of time, Hardwicke is a filmmaker who has managed reliably to deliver a film every two or three years. In that time she has shown an ability with a range of material and tone from the hard hitting indie drama of her award winning debut feature Thirteen to the in production British rom-com Miss You Already via mainstream franchise films. She has directed a variety of different female roles, putting her own take on iconic heroines from the mother of God (The Nativity) to the biggest young adult romance phenomenon of our time (Twilight). With Twilight she made a film that grossed over ten times its budget and started a major movie franchise, something Warner will be looking for with Wonder Woman. Her work on Twilight also means she knows how to handle a property with a hardcore fanbase and make a film that appeals to them yet still have some creative input of her own. Much of the hatred the film receives is down to the source material, not Hardwicke, as is evidence by her film receiving comfortably the best reviews of the series. However, since Thirteen Hardwicke has not made a film that received unequivocally positive notices and the action content of Twilight does not mark her out as a great action movie filmmaker.
