10 Worst CGI Moments In Star Wars

4. Sy Snootles - Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi (Special Edition)

If Greedo shooting first was a rather minor - if infuriating - revision in the grand scheme of things, George Lucas radically reworked a scene from Return of the Jedi for its 1997 Special Edition release.

Originally, the scene in Jabba's palace saw the Max Rebo Band and its lead singer Sy Snootles play a mischievous tune called "Lapti Nek," with the band realised through the art of practical puppetry.

But Lucas' revised scene made numerous unnecessary changes, worst of all replacing the practical Sy Snootles with a glossy, cartoonish, bug-eyed version which clearly belonged in the prequels, while also adding more members to the Max Rebo Band through CGI.

As awful as all this is, though, perhaps the worst change of all was replacing the original song with "Jedi Rocks," an ear-splittingly grating excuse for music which underlines just how tasteless and pointless these alterations all were. Oof.
