10 Worst CGI Moments In Star Wars

2. Cursed Jabba The Hutt - Star Wars: A New Hope (Special Edition)

Though Jabba the Hutt doesn't appear in the original cut of A New Hope, footage was shot featuring the character interacting with Han Solo.

Lucas planned to have a stop-motion Jabba inserted into the scene during post-production, but due to time and budgetary constraints, the scene was cut.

But the 1997 Special Edition allowed Lucas to restore the scene with a CGI Jabba, the result of which is, even for the standards of 1997 visual effects, abominable.

Jabba is supposed to be disgusting, but the renderings themselves are low-res nightmare fuel, to say nothing of the fact that keen-eyed viewers might also notice Han's hand clipping through Jabba's body a few times.

Thankfully Lucas had the good sense to have the CGI Jabba re-done for the 2004 DVD, where he looks far more like an actual living thing as opposed to a cursed digital golem.
