10 Worst Decisions Hollywood Has Made In 2016 (So Far)

7. Not Giving Sylvester Stallone The Oscar

Arguably the most compelling Oscar narrative this past year wasn't Leonardo DiCaprio's successful bid for the Best Actor award, but Sylvester Stallone's status as awards darling while promoting his film Creed.

It was too brilliant a move: Stallone had now transitioned into the trainer role almost 40 years after he first played the plucky underdog boxer, and his terrific performance preyed perfectly on the collective audience nostalgia for the Rocky Balboa character.

Stallone was nominated for Best Supporting Actor extensively on the Oscar circuit, picking up some vital wins from the Golden Globes, Broadcast Film Critics Association and National Board of Review.

However, when it came to the big one, the Oscar instead went to Mark Rylance for Bridge Of Spies, again denying Sly the gong, marking his third nomination without a win.

Though Rylance also gave a great performance, was it better than Stallone's? The jury may be out, but this one stings particularly because this could easily be the last time the 70-year-old actor is ever nominated.
