10 Worst Effects In Sci-Fi Movies

6. X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Coming off the success of Fox's X-Men franchise, fan favourite Wolverine was next in line to receive his own solo film way back in 2009. As a gritty amd often relentless killer, many long time comic fans expected Origins to be a return to the roots of Logan (or James Howlett, as he was formerly known) with a stunning and vicious feature ripped straight from the pages of a comic book.

Instead, what we were left with was a barely PG-13 paint-by-numbers superhero action film with a rogues gallery of forgettable characters that had a staggering amount of seemingly unfinished VFX shots. There are only so many times that you can watch Scott Summers nearly destroy his school with his developing eye blasts, but this film didn't even deliver a halfway decent effect to show it happening.

Between that and the somehow doughy looking knives - that are supposed to be Wolverine's claws after his bones were coated in adamantium - and you have yourself a movie with a host of lazy VFX shots that were as phoned-in as the rest of the film.

And that's without even mentioning what they did to Deadpool...

Just your average, everyday favourite transgender writer. You can find me talking about books and graphic novels for hours on end. I was raised on Doctor Who, so eccentric isn't even the word to describe me...
