10 Worst Effects In Sci-Fi Movies
5. Green Lantern
Speaking of movies that did Ryan Reynolds wrong, let's talk about whatever happened to the visual effects in Green Lantern.
As a founding member of The Justice League and a prevalent character within the DC pantheon, the idea of a Green Lantern film in 2011 was as mind boggling as the breadth of the ring-wielder's powers.
The potential that came with this particular film was unlike any other superhero film that came before it, as the cosmic implications of the character could allow for completely new realms of VFX experimentation.
And then... the CGI suit happened. Instead of slapping Reynolds in a set of tight green logo-clad pyjamas, the brilliant minds at Warner Brothers decided that a fully computer generated suit and mask would be the best way to connect with their already dwindling audience.
And to top it off, their best approximation of Parallax - the physical embodiment of fear within the DC universe - was a big grey space lump that sort of shot some yellow beams at him, before being defeated far too easily for a being that possessed and took control of Hal Jordan for the best part of two years.
And we never even got a proper Sinestro.
