10 Worst Fates Suffered By Heroes In Horror Movies

7. Christine Brown - Drag Me To Hell

Brightburn Ending
Universal Pictures

Denying someone in desperate need of a bank loan's an unpleasant endeavour at the best of times. For Christine Brown, a nice but desperate employee out to snag an all-important promotion, the consequences of trying to get tough prove fatal.

Greeted by a caricature of a caricature of a spooky old witch at her desk, Christine sends the desperate old-timer packing without any financial assistance. It's a cringe-worthy scene as the witch makes a sad and desperate spectacle of herself. Furious with the humiliation, she comes back for a little payback by getting into a bizarre punch-up with Christine in the parking lot before cursing her via a coat button.

In typical Sam Raimi fashion, the lead is subjected to all manner of gross-out torment before her horrendous demise. Seemingly freeing herself of the curse by moving it onto the old witch's corpse, Christine discovers the next day that she mixed up envelopes and never freed herself of the curse.

After watching her suffer for much of the film's runtime, we get the horror of witnessing her live up to the film's title and poster as she's swallowed up in a burning pit, never to be seen again. Presuming hell is as eternal as most religious scriptures suggest, the hapless Christine will be burning up forever without exit or relief. It really doesn't get much worse than that.

John Cunningham hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
