10 Worst Horror Movie Decisions With Unbelievable Consequences

9. Trying To Set A Murderous Ghost Free - The Ring

In the surprisingly great U.S. remake of The Ring, protagonist Rachel (Naomi Watts) reasonably believes that she can help put the ghostly Samara Morgan (Daveigh Chase) to rest by retrieving her corpse from the bottom of the well, and then arranging for her to receive a proper burial.

But as her own son Aidan (David Dorfman) so eerily informs her at the end of the movie, it probably wasn't the smartest idea to try and help a supernatural entity you have little concrete knowledge of.

And so Rachel ends up not only freeing Samara's spirit, but inadvertently leaving her able to possess people out in the wild - and, as the case may be, Aidan - in the sequel.

This is without even getting into the fact that Rachel also makes a copy of the dreaded ring tape and passes it on in order to prevent Aidan being claimed by the curse, in turn allowing it to spread further and causing even more death, as The Ring Two makes so abundantly clear.
