10 Worst Horror Movie Decisions With Unbelievable Consequences
7. Firing A Particle Accelerator In Space - The Cloverfield Paradox
In The Cloverfield Paradox, Earth is caught in the midst of a critical energy crisis, and so the drastic decision is made to test a particle accelerator housed onboard the Cloverfield space station, in the hope it will bring humanity's energy woes to an end.
But of course, when the particle accelerator is fired, it only ends up causing the titular phenomenon, opening portals to parallel universes and allowing horrific alien creatures to invade Earth - all versions of it, in fact.
That is to say, firing the particle accelerator causes the events of the first two Cloverfield movies in their respective universes, and also allows similar creatures to arrive in this universe.
Though humanity was clearly in a desperate bind at this point, and the Cloverfield Paradox was a notion largely spouted by untrustworthy conspiracy theorists, they ultimately ended up being totally on the money in this case.
