10 Worst Horror Movies Of 2019
8. The Silence
A film that depicts monsters that hunt by sound taking over the world that isn’t called A Quiet Place was going to start out behind the 8-ball. Even if we do our best to pretend there aren’t a lot of television shows and movies exploring the same ideas as The Silence, the movie still doesn’t ever work.
There are not enough horror elements here to appeal to genre fans and the steaks never feel high enough to draw in a general audience. What we are left with is a movie that is just sort-of there, and with Stanley Tucci and Kiernan Shipka in the cast that is a shame.
You cannot watch this movie without thinking about 2018’s A Quiet Place and Bird Box. Both of which, especially the former, succeed leaps and bounds ahead of The Silence in terms of themes and storytelling.
