10 Worst Horror Movies Of 2023
3. Cocaine Shark
With the release of Cocaine Bear at the start of the year, it was only inevitable that a glut of immediately tired imitators would follow, the first of which is Cocaine Shark.
You can't even really give low-budget filmmaker Mike Polonia credit for running with the insane concept of a coke-huffing shark going on a bloody rampage, given that his creature feature was already in post-production when he decided to rename it in order to cash-in on Cocaine Bear's success.
You see, Cocaine Shark's plot doesn't involve the nose powder at all - it's instead about mutated sharks who are accidentally released and wreak havoc on the surrounding area.
Even accepting that Polonia's film was produced on a shoestring budget with literally hand-crafted "special" effects, there's depressingly little charm to be found here - just headache-inducingly low production values, shoddy acting, and incomprehensible writing.
If somehow not quite the most cynical horror film on this list - you'll see - Cocaine Shark is one of the year's biggest cinematic atrocities, horror or otherwise.
