10 Worst Horror Movies Of 2025 (So Far)
1. Mouse Of Horrors
Much like Popeye, Mickey Mouse's debut short, Steamboat Willie, recently entered public domain, which has spawned various horrors centred around Disney's loveable mascot. And the worst of the lot has to be Mouse of Horrors.
Yes, other Mickey horrors like Screamboat and The Mouse Trap were trash, but at least they tried to incorporate elements from the classic cartoons. But Mouse of Horrors couldn't even manage that, since it's a run-of-the-mill slasher where the killer happens to look like Mickey Mouse.
The film (if it can be called that) follows an evil scientist called Rupert who lures a young ensemble to an amusement park. Once there, Rupert and his rodent-human creation begin picking them off, hoping to harvest their body parts for their own evil agenda.
Even though the ridiculous concept could work as a parody, Mouse of Horrors plays things straight. This is a huge misfire, since it isn't remotely scary. The mousey villain, who's simply credited as The Killer, has no characterisation, apart from tilting his head like Michael Myers.
By setting the story at the amusement park, the filmmakers could've had some real fun, setting up elaborate kills on bumper cars, the waltzer, or a rollercoaster. But not only are the kills insultingly lazy, they're let down by shoddy camerawork and laughable acting.
2025 isn't half over, but Mouse of Horrors makes a strong case for the year's worst horror.
