10 Worst Instances Of Marvel Movies Dropping The Ball

5. Howard The Duck

Although it was a long time ago (1986 to be precise), that really doesn't excuse how poor the Howard the Duck movie was - or the decision to make it in the first place. It was such a strange choice for a movie. It was the first cinematic release of Marvel material since the Captain America serial of 1944 and, amidst a plethora of far less obscure and far more popular characters, putting Howard the Duck out their for a mainstream audience was always going to end in failure. The effects were poor - even for the time - the acting was poor, the story was a complete and utter mess and the love scene between Howard (an anthropomorphic duck) and a human woman was extremely uncomfortable to watch. The film was absolutely blasted by critics, just about made its budget back at the box office and was the subject of a number of nominations for Raspberry awards (and various other nominations at other ceremonies for negative reasons).
