10 Worst Instances Of Marvel Movies Dropping The Ball
4. Spider-Man 3
The first two Spider-Man movies in Sam Raimi's trilogy were two of the best comic book movies of all time - it's that simple. They caught the tone of the comics, Tobey Maguire made a great Peter Parker and a top Spider-Man, and the portrayals of the Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus by Willem Dafoe and Alfred Molina were top notch. And then Spider-Man 3 ruined it all. It was sluggish and just seemed to plod along, it lacked the essential humour of the first two, there were too many villains (and they weren't very good either), there were too many subplots, the romantic relationships were all over the place and some of the scenes (Peter Parker dancing in his black suit, anyone?) were simply farcical. A fourth film was touted prior to the release of Spider-Man 3, but this killed the franchise.
