10 Worst Movie CGI Of 2019

2. Captain Marvel Crashes To Earth - Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel earned a ton of totally justified acclaim for the stunning digital de-aging effects applied to Samuel L. Jackson in order for him to play a younger Nick Fury, but it's also clearly where the bulk of the VFX pipeline's resources were devoted.

The third act finale meanwhile sees Carol (Brie Larson) unleashing the full extent of her abilities both in space and eventually on the ground, but when she's sent crashing to Earth by Yon-Rogg (Jude Law), we're treated to a most offputtingly ugly CGI moment.

As Carol falls to the Earth, the background is a disgustingly cheap-looking brown blur, as though the production simply ran out of time to complete the shot and settled for a stock, low-poly Earth render, which has been a problem on many MCU films, worst of all Black Panther.

It sticks out like a sore thumb because most of the movie looks at least rock solid, but this is absolutely hideous and one of the worst single VFX shots in the entire MCU.
