10 Worst Movie Characters Of 2020 (So Far)
2. Missy (Lauren Lapkus) - The Wrong Missy
Netflix's romantic "comedy" The Wrong Missy delivers pretty much everything you'd expect from an Adam Sandler-produced streamer romp: crude, low-effort humour, crass jokes about sexual assault, lame prat-falls, and characters so flagrantly overbearing it's tough to make it to the end.
The latter case is no truer than with Missy (Lauren Lapkus), the crazed young woman who protagonist Tim (David Spade) accidentally ends up taking with him to a work retreat in Hawaii.
From her rubber-faced mugging to her unfunny motormouth shtick and generally abusive attitude towards Tim, Missy is without question one of the worst movie characters of the last few years. Period.
Between sexually assaulting Tim by giving him an unwanted handjob while he's sleeping, almost getting him eaten by sharks, and implying she was suicidal in order to emotionally manipulatE him, Missy is an absolute trainwreck.
To make matters worse, the movie then asks the audience to root for Tim as he comes to believe Missy isn't so bad after all - just a deeply troubled individual likely in need of institutionalisation for her own good.
Just awful.
