10 Worst Movie Characters Of 2021 (So Far)

5. Kate Ward - Army Of The Dead

Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead is an undeniably messy, overlong zombie film, but it benefits from a diverse ensemble cast packed with memorable characters.

And then there's Kate Ward (Ella Purnell), the estranged daughter of protagonist Scott (Dave Bautista) who ends up joining the central heist mission into Las Vegas in the hope of finding her missing friend, Geeta (Huma Qureshi).

Kate is a prototypical tagalong character who, in true zombie film fashion, ends up causing a colossal headache for the other survivors, deviating off-course in search of Geeta and ultimately bringing about the circumstances which get other characters killed, including her father.

On top of this, she instigates a wealth of tedious melodramatic guff with Scott - an apparent attempt at character development which doesn't much work.

To rub salt in the wound, Kate not only fails to get Geeta out alive after discovering her, but is the movie's sole survivor, making it entirely possible she'll return for a potential sequel.

When the most useless, boring, and irritating character is the only one to make it out alive, you know they screwed up.
