In The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren learn about a child who claims he was possessed by a demon, which compelled him to commit murder.

While the Warrens speak to a lawyer about the boy's case, a series of books are visible on the shelf behind them. At a glance, there doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary in this setup. But if you look closer, you can see one of the books is Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, which was published 23 years after this film is based!

What makes this mistake more obvious is that the symbol for Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell is clearly visible on the book's spine. Even if you couldn't make out the title, the emblem is easy to recognise. To make matters worse, the book is in the dead centre of shot, and the camera holds on it repeatedly.

We know The Conjuring franchise deals with a lot of supernatural elements, but most viewers didn't realise time-travel played a part in the beloved horror franchise.
