5. Reckless Endangerment - Need For Speed
Walt Disney Studios
The Scene: Again, not a singular scene, but the fact that throughout the movie, protagonist Tobey Marshall (Aaron Paul) is, even for the standards of a movie called Need for Speed, a completely reckless driver who clearly doesn't care much about the safety of other people on the road.
Why It Sucks: The movie wants us to root unapologetically for Marshall as he attempts to bring down his arch rival Dino Brewster (Dominic Cooper), but when he spends most of the movie driving like an irresponsible lunatic, it's hard to really like the guy, let alone cheer for him when he weaves in and out of oncoming traffic and, in one scene, nearly crashes into a school bus full of kids. Perhaps this might have not seemed so reprehensible if the racing ever actually felt like a necessity to the story: the stakes are so painfully low that it's difficult to get behind such reckless behaviour, and really it just makes Tobey and everyone else look like a**holes.
