4. Cliffhanger Ending - The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Sony Pictures Releasing
The Scene: Aleksei Sytsevich aka Rhino (Paul Giamatti), who appeared at the very start of the movie and was apprehended by Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield), is broken out of prison and begins rampaging around New York City in his mechanical suit of armour. Spider-Man shows up on the scene, the battle begins, and just as it gets exciting...we cut to black. The End.
Why It Sucks: After a relatively disappointing Spider-Man movie, getting to see Spidey face off against a villain in a giant mech suit seemed like a pretty awesome way to give audiences a little added value. Plus, Paul Giamatti's incredible, but he sadly only gets a few minutes of wonderfully hammy screen time in ASM2, likely because he's being saved for both the next movie and a Sinister Six spin-off. After underwhelming battles against Electro and the Green Goblin, the film looks like it's about to deliver something really cool...and then ends. What a jip.
