10 Worst Movie Trailers Of The 2010s
4. Peter Rabbit
Beatrix Potter’s tales about a rabbit called Peter are classics in the world of children’s literature. They’re quaint, cosy stories with plenty of charm and simplicity.
At first, this trailer follows a similar tone, but it soon deviates from its source material. This modern rendition has a party atmosphere drenched in lazy humour. The attempts to make the audience laugh are so overt they come over as desperate rather than comedic.
James Corden is another big problem. Whilst there’s nothing objectively wrong with his performance, his voice is so recognisable that it shatters any sense of immersion. As soon as Peter Rabbit opens his mouth it’s impossible to take him seriously. It would have made much more sense to pick someone younger and less prominent in the mainstream media.
In essence, this trailer modernises the work of Beatrix Potter in the worst possible way. It butchers her original stories and fails to provide anything worthy of merit.
