10 Worst Movie Trailers Of The 2010s
3. Sonic: The Hedgehog
Despite being one of the most iconic characters in gaming history, a movie about Sonic isn’t something any sane person would support.
In fairness, the music in this trailer is pretty good and Jim Carrey’s performance is certainly entertaining.
The big issue, however, is the design of Sonic. Whilst the more recent trailers have fixed said design, this first look at the iconic hedgehog was nothing short of a disaster. Sonic’s eyes are especially bad, and he looks rather frightening as a result.
What’s more, this trailer is yet another example of poorly-executed humour. The loud-quiet dynamic is also utilised here, and far from accentuating the supposedly comedic conversations, this technique simply makes the lacklustre dialogue stand out in sharp relief.
Even with the improved design of Sonic, the indication from the marketing so far is that this movie will be like most other movie adaptations of video games.
