10 Worst Movies Of 2019 (So Far)

7. Dark Phoenix

X Men Dark Phoenix
Fox

Imagine if the Fox X-Men universe had ended properly with Logan (Deadpool is a different matter, since he lives on the fringes). Imagine how much of a perfect ending that would have been before Marvel took back the rights. We'd all be satisfied beyond words.

Instead, this year we've had to watch a horribly dull, stupidly mixed up new take on Dark Phoenix that took itself so seriously that it forgot to be fun or entertaining in the slightest. The performances (other than Michael Fassbender) range from awful to lifeless, the story feels cobbled together (because it is) and everyone is an idiot. It's like a lesson in how not to write a movie.

There are positives, like the effects, but Dark Phoenix is a slog whose attempts at huge spectacle end up falling dull and flat and anything even remotely approaching a positive feels ripped off from somewhere else. It's a shame, but this is almost unwatchable.
