10 Worst Movies Of 2021
4. He's All That
The most infuriating thing about Netflix She's All That remake is that, of all the movies to rehash for a new generation, this one actually makes a decent amount of sense.
The 1999 original is hardly a masterpiece, and gender-flipping the Pygmalion-inspired concept feels like an enlightened approach for the audiences of today.
It's just a shame that despite being directed by Mean Girls filmmaker Mark Waters and written by She's All That's screenwriter R. Lee Fleming Jr., this disastrous new take is basically an unintentional self-parody of what a terrible modern remake would look like.
From the un-cinematic, overlit sitcom-like aesthetic to the fact that the protagonist is an Instagram influencer (and played by actual social media personality Addison Rae), not to forget the migraine-inducing overabundance of product placement, this was basically a worst-case scenario.
Save for a scene-stealing appearance from Matthew Lillard as the school's principal, He's All That is a fascinatingly awful exercise in how not to reimagine a popular movie for Gen-Z.
