5. Who€™s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf?

So that's the cut off all hopes of future intimacy between you and your partner(s), what next? Well, why not give Who's Afraid Of Virigina Woolf a try? Mike Nichols' classic 1966 adaptation of the play of the same title by Edward Albee stars real-life tumultuous couple Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor as a bitter, sniping couple whose arguments are witnessed by another young couple. You can see its roots as a stage play, in that it's all pretty much confined to the couple's home as they lay into each other, but the claustrophobia is even more palpable on screen. Burton and Taylor are sometimes a little too convincing as the married couple who absolutely despise each other, but seemed destined to be together forever. Ah, love! Post-viewing relationship status: Gazing wistfully out of the window, remembering the good times, nursing a glass of gin and considering whether you should throw a party for all the other couples you know so you can make them equally as unhappy.
