8. The Ferrins And The Halversons (The Purge)
Some neighbours keep their real views hidden, smiling to your face while they secretly plot your downfall. Both the Ferrins and the Halversons seem perfectly nice before that year's purge kicks off. Unfortunately, they're harbouring a deep-seated hatred for the Sandin family on account of their wealth. Rich via the in demand home security systems they sold around the neighbourhood, the Sandins have profited greatly off the purges of years past.
It comes as a major surprise when the Sandins' neighbours reveal their ugly true colours. Initially helping what's left of the unlucky family fend off a pack of crazed purgers, it turns out they've only saved the day to get the honours of killing the Sandins themselves. With years of petty resentments and disputes coming to the surface, the neighbours become the face of suburban evil by the end credits.
Given their poor behaviour, many viewers may feel oddly disappointed they're not executed before the purge deadline arrives. The film ended on the implication they'd all be ready for war at next year's purge instead. While sequels have been made, these characters have unfortunately never been revisited despite the entertainment potential a rematch could hold.
