10 Worst Neighbours In Horror Movies

3. Robert Turner (Disturbia)

The Purge
Paramount

Even when he's as polite as can be, Mr Turner gives out a bad case of the heebie-jeebies. No one likes trouble moving onto their street so when a mysterious, serial killing suspect arrives, it's not long before mayhem follows. Similar to L.B. Jefferies, Shia LaBeouf's Kale (a name for more than just the veggie apparently) finds himself housebound, just switch out the leg cast for an ankle bracelet.

The criminally underrated David Morse went full method actor for his turn as the Lars Thorwald update, even refusing to speak to his fellow cast members for the entire shoot. The efforts were ultimately more than worth it with Morse stealing every scene he's in as an increasingly sinister but smart killer on the loose. One could even argue the ruthless efficiency of the Turner character and the magnitude of his crimes are a notch above Raymond Burr's work as Thorwald.

The blend of adolescent dramedy with a monstrous killer of unlucky redheads works far better than it sounds. Between Morse's slow burn feud with LaBoeuf and D.J. Caruso's confident direction, the film captures an over-the-top but satisfying take on the evil neighbour trope.
