10 Worst Performances In Comic Book Movies
5. Shaq - Steel (Steel)
From the first time it graced our screens, no one was expecting Steel to be a masterpiece of cinema. Even though most of the movie felt like Shaq trying to reach a new demographic of fans, most people expected something at least halfway decent to latch onto. However, the charm of Shaq can only take you so far.
First thing right off the bat, Shaq is not the best actor by any stretch of the imagination. As soon as the movie starts, it's clear that the movie wants to focus on "Shaq being a superhero" rather than actually represent the source material. Complete with one of the stupidest costumes imaginable, Steel ends up looking like a sentient garbage can who happens to save the day at the end of the movie.
Even if casting a basketball star wasn't on the nose enough, the movie makes it a point that Steel isn't that good at making free throws, which the producers thought was so good a joke that they used it no more than three separate times in the film.
Steel is actually a fairly complex character in the comic book world, but it looks like the movie studios were more concerned with the big name celebrity than they were about making a decent character.
