10 Worst Performances In Comic Book Movies
2. Nicolas Cage - Ghost Rider (Ghost Rider)
In the world of comic book movies, there have been plenty of actors who don't know what they were doing. At the same time, there are actors who seem to have all the pieces lined up for a great performance but just aren't able to make it work. However, Nicolas Cage's take on Ghost Rider is dangerously close to "so bad it's good" territory.
In typical Cage fashion, the switch between cool and collected to the fiery Rider persona is so quick that you practically get whiplash just from watching it. One second you hear Cage mumbling to himself, the next minute he's blowing away spirits on his motorcycle.
Granted, Ghost Rider is a character so badass that pretty much anyone could make it work, but the instances where Cage goes too over-the-top turns the movie from a serious character portrayal to one of the funniest movies ever made.
The best scene by far has to be his first transformation into the Rider, where Cage laughs in the middle of an abandoned parking garage (or for Cage... a typical Thursday) until he unveils his new form. The mid '00s was a pretty dark time for superhero movies, but even when the movies were terrible, that didn't mean they weren't entertaining to watch.
