10 Worst Plot Twists In Recent Movies
4. Justin Isn't Really Dead (And Is The Real Villain) - Jolt
Audiences really should know by now that if you don't see a character die on-screen, then they're almost certainly not dead. And that's why Jolt's spectacularly stupid, predictable twist falls totally flat.
The promising action-thriller opens with the high-strung Lindy Lewis (Kate Beckinsale) hooking up with a charming guy named Justin (Jai Courtney), but the next day, she's informed by Detective Vicars (Bobby Cannavale) that he's been murdered.
To anyone paying the least bit attention, it's hilariously obvious that Justin isn't dead, and that he's almost certainly going to return later on as the real villain.
More than anything else, why would Jai Courtney show up for a mere glorified cameo with nothing close to a payoff?
And so, in the final 10 minutes of the movie Justin emerges out of the shadows, revealing that he faked his own death and has basically been behind the entirety of the movie's events. Unsurprisingly, he doesn't stay alive for long after making his presence known to Lindy.
Given the obvious potential of a Crank-style action vehicle for Kate Beckinsale, what a crushing disappointment this was, topped by a staggeringly braindead, low-effort twist.
