10 Worst Scenes In Otherwise Awesome Movies

9. Esteban Vihaio - Kill Bill, Vol. 2

Quentin Tarantino is, generally speaking, a fairly self-indulgent writer - he's not afraid to write a speech that ends up spanning twenty-five pages if he feels like it's justifiable. Most of the time he's right to be indulgent, because what he's written is usually dynamite, and who cares if it goes on for two whole hours, even? But occasionally Tarantino can misjudge his own abilities, and we end up with entire movies like Death Proof, or scenes like the Esteban Vihaio one in Kill Bill, Vol. 2. Kill Bill Vol. 2 is already a fairly talky movie before the Bride (Uma Thurman) winds up talking to a brothel-owner named Esteban (Michael Parks) - who we've never even heard of at this point - at his premises in Mexico. The scene serves a purpose, I suppose: Esteban is the one who reveals where Bill is hiding out, thus allowing the Bride to complete her journey. Still, this is the starting point at which the movie begins to "drag" - in the grand scheme of things, the lengthy chat that the Bride shares with this minor character adds little to the movie. overall. Tarantino ideally needed somebody in the editing room to suggest he cut this part - it's all just a bit too much.
