In Jurassic Park, Dennis Nedry worked for John Hammond as his IT expert, but in the structure of the story, he was a plot device. Nedry wasn't happy with the amount of money he was being paid by Hammond, so he cut a deal with his competitors to sneak viable dinosaur embryos off the island.

To do this, he created a program that made it possible to cut the power to specific gates in the park, which would serve to let him get from the compound to the docks to make his delivery. Things didn't go according to plan, and the dinos got out.

Now, it's fair to say that Nedry got what he had coming to him in the end. He wound up being on the menu for a group of Dilophosaurs, which he initially paid little attention to. He was blinded by their saliva, but this wasn't a problem for long, seeing as they began eating him soon after.
