10 Worst Sci-Fi Movie Characters Of All Time

7. Howard The Duck

Passengers Chris Pratt Jennifer Lawrence
Universal Pictures

While the comic book character of Howard the Duck is beloved by millions, the film adaptation released in 1986 was a poor approximation that was horrifically executed. In the movie, Howard is an average guy living on Duckworld, but when he and his armchair are swept from that world to Earth, he becomes a duck without a home.

He quickly befriends a woman named Beverly Switzler by beating a bunch of thugs with his style of martial arts called Quack-Fu. From this point, Howard becomes the manager of Beverly's band, and the movie really crosses the line by having the pair flirt with one another, and it's disturbing, to say the least.

The movie then shifts to reveal that Howard was transported to Earth by a malfunctioning laser spectroscope, which is being used by a possessed Dr. Walter Jenning to bring other, more horrific creatures to the planet. Howard then teams up with Beverly and others to stop him.

They end up doing so, but in the process, the laser spectroscope was destroyed, making it impossible for Howard to return to Duckworld. It doesn't seem to bother him too much, seeing as he has something going on with Beverly... you know, a human woman. He also started performing on stage with the band, so it all worked out for Howard in the end.
