4. The Chronicles of Riddick
In many ways this film is fun. Vin Diesel is kind of cool, in a '80s throwback sort of way, and thats all the rage at the moment. But as a sequel to the terrific Pitch Black, this sucks. It is the complete opposite to the first film and the idea of expanding Diesels character is not a bad one, but trying to make it an effects laden blockbuster just doesnt work. They are making a new incarnation of this movie, and maybe they will get it right this time, but fundamentally this is another example of the powers that be completely missing the point of what made the first film work.
