33 The Chronicles of Riddick Dead Man Stalking In many ways this film is fun. Vin Diesel is kind of cool, in a '80s throwback sort of way, and that€™s all the rage at the moment. But as a sequel to the terrific Pitch Black, this sucks. It is the complete opposite to the first film and the idea of expanding Diesel€™s character is not a bad one, but trying to make it an effects laden blockbuster just doesn€™t work. They are making a new incarnation of this movie, and maybe they will get it right this time, but fundamentally this is another example of the €œpowers that be€ completely missing the point of what made the first film work.
