10 Worst Sci-Fi Sequels Of All Time

3. 2010: The Year We Make Contact

url-3 The sequel to Stanley Kubrick€™s classic 2001: A Space Odyssey. Released 16 years after the first film and based on Arthur C Clarke€™s book, 2010 had a good cast, including Helen Mirren, Roy Scheider and John Lithgow, and it had the blessings of both Clarke (who makes a cameo in the film) and Kubrick. Its problem, though, is that it is following up a movie that is considered to be one of the best movies ever and it suffers in comparison. Its narrative is more straightforward and - when compared to the 1968 original - its effects are naff and the film looks dated now. It is incredible to think that 2001 was made in 1968 and is a testament to Stanley Kubrick and the team that created the effects.
